When serving as an Expert Witness in Family Court, Dr. Altes can provide information on child development, family dynamics, and the emotional needs of children. As an experienced, highly trained psychologist, she provides information to help determine the best interest of the children.
Legal Case
Consultant
Serving as Consultant, Dr. Altes helps attorneys to determine the strengths and weaknesses of their case, focusing on the developmental needs of children. She will assist attorneys to formulate a realistic parenting plan for the family. In this role, Dr. Altes works behind the scenes and does not testify in court.

Custody
When parents cannot agree on a parenting plan the court can appoint a highly trained, experienced clinician to conduct a child custody evaluation or recommending mediation. The recommended parenting plan will be based on the best interest of the children and will consider each child’s needs.
Psychoeducational
Evaluations
A trained psychologist can conduct testing to determine whether or not a student has a learning disability, ADHD (an attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder), or an emotional disorder that interferes with academic success and will suggest appropriate accommodations to support the student.
Immigration
Evaluations
Psychological evaluations can assist attorneys with their client’s request for permanent residency or asylum. Dr. Altes conducts interviews and psychological testing to measure and document hardship and the emotional distress on individuals and their family members.
